Lagos passes Bill stopping parade of suspects by Police, others

The Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday passed a Bill to henceforth stop the media parade of suspects by the Police. The Bill, which was passed under the leadership of the House Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa (representing Agege-1), is an amendment of the Lagos State Criminal Justice Law. According to section 9(a) of the newly passed Bill, “as from the commencement of this law, the Police shall refrain from parading any suspect before the media”. Lagos: Fed Govt shuts Eko Bridge

The Federal Government on Friday said it would shut the Ijora ramp of Eko Bridge from midnight to be able to fix a major expansion joint undergoing rehabilitation. The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola, said this during an inspection of the bridge. Lagos bakers increase price of bread by 30%, as Nigerians lament

After weeks of warning, Lagos bakeries have finally raised the price of bread, Nigerians’ favorite staple, by 30 percent. The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria, (AMBCN), had in May warned Nigerians of price change due to the increase in production cost. The association also cited the increase in prices of sugar, butter, yeast and flour, and other baking materials. According to reports, some bakers have already effected the change.
