The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria (AMBCON), has announced that it is poised to begin a nationwide strike today, Tuesday. In an issued statement announcing the strike yesterday, the National President of AMBCON, Mansur Umar, said unless the Federal Government honours the agreement made with the association in 2020, the strike would commence. After weeks of warning, Lagos bakeries have finally raised the price of bread, Nigerians’ favorite staple, by 30 percent. The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria, (AMBCN), had in May warned Nigerians of price change due to the increase in production cost. Bakers announce 30% increase in price of bread, biscuits

The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria, (AMBCN), has instructed its members to increase the price of bread, biscuits, and other items by 30 percent. Explaining the reason for the price increase, the association of master bakers said the increase in prices of costs of production including sugar, butter, yeast and flour as well as worsening economic situations in the country is responsible for the directive.
