The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated an investigation into reports of an accidental airstrike on a weekly market in Jilli, a community located along the Borno–Yobe border. The Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, on Sunday ordered an immediate probe, emphasising that the Nigerian Air Force treats any report of civilian casualties with “utmost seriousness and empathy”. The traditional ruler of Jabo in Tambuwal LGA of Sokoto State, Abubakar Jabo, has advised residents against visiting the explosion site to pick metal fragments and debris. The Defence Headquarters says the Air Component of Operation Thunder Strike has disrupted activities of cattle rustlers in Kwyambana Forest area in Kaduna State, killing several bandits.
