The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has initiated an investigation into reports of an accidental airstrike on a weekly market in Jilli, a community located along the Borno–Yobe border. The Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, on Sunday ordered an immediate probe, emphasising that the Nigerian Air Force treats any report of civilian casualties with “utmost seriousness and empathy”. Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has acquired 12 new fighter jets to enhance its combat capabilities. A Nigerian Air Force MI-171 helicopter on a casualty evacuation mission has reportedly crashed yesterday, near Chukuba Village in Niger State.
