Elder statesman Sambo dies at 91

On a sad note, the death has occurred of elder statesman Alhaji Abbas Dabo Sambo today morning at the age of 91. Born on September 16, 1935, in Anguwan Juma ward, Zaria, Alhaji Abbas Dabo Sambo started his civil service career from the colonial era. He was former administrator of the Kaduna Capital Territory, former capital of the Northern Nigerian Government in the 1960s. Indefinite Strike: House of Reps. Speaker Abbas pleads with Labour to suspend action

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Honourable Tajudeen Abbas,  has appealed to the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) not to embark on its planned strike action. In his welcome remarks at the resumption of plenary on Tuesday, Abbas pledged that the house would engage and support the Executive to resolve the current economic hardship in the country.
