Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kizito Bonzena, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP). Bonzens, at the same time announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress, (APC), blaming what he described as deepening factional struggles within the PDP at the national level. The Speaker confirmed that 15 other members of the Assembly have also submitted letters indicating their intention to leave the PDP for the APC. Court summons Taraba gov, Service Chiefs over Tiv/Jukun crisis

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State to appear before it over allegations of bias levelled against him in setting up a probe panel on the incessant communal clashes between the Tiv and Jukun tribes in the state. Also summoned by the court are the four service chiefs of the country and heads of other security agencies, among others.
