The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed September 21, 2024 for the conduct of Edo governorship election and November 16, 2024 for Ondo State. The commission announced the dates in the timetable and schedule of activities for the two states governorship elections released on Tuesday in Abuja. 32 burial guests kidnapped in Ondo

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted 32 persons around the Ifon area in Ose local government area of Ondo State. The victims were said to be returning from a burial ceremony in Edo State. It was learnt that the abduction took place on Saturday. It is yet to be confirmed if the kidnappers have made contact with the victims’ families. Ondo, Edo Elections: IGP orders arrest of anyone in possession of firearms

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered commissioners of police across Nigeria to “identify, isolate, disarm, arrest and prosecute” individuals or groups found in possession of prohibited firearms.
