Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, on Monday, directed security agencies in the state to rid Sagamu and its environs of cultists and cult-related activities in the state. The Ogun Police Command has confirmed the arrest of nine suspected cultists following the killing of eight persons over the weekend in Sagamu as rival cult groups clashed. Speaking at a news conference in Abeokuta on Monday, Abiodun Alamutu, the Commissioner of Police, said the remote cause of the clashes was a land transaction that took place in the town. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has arrested a 21-year old armed robbery suspect with a a locally-made gun and four live cartridges. This contained in a statement by the commands Public Relations Officer Oluwole Olusegun in Ibadan. Olusegun quoted the NSCDC Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, as saying that the suspect was arrested for allegedly stealing a cell phone on July 29 at about 9:30p.m. at Olomi Acedemy Area of Ibadan.
