Senator representing Edo-North, Adams Oshiomhole, has stirred debate after declaring that political sins are not enough to send politicians to hellfire.

Speaking on Tuesday, at the Edo State congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benin City, Oshiomhole made the remark while responding to an appeal from the party’s newly elected state chairman, Jarret Tenebe.

Tenebe had asked party members to forgive him for any wrongs he may have committed while serving as acting chairman. In his response, the former Edo State governor dismissed the weight of “political sins,” describing them as part of the political process.

According to Oshiomhole, politics naturally comes with disagreements and missteps, but such actions should not be viewed as eternal offenses. “Politicians are bound to commit sins, but they will not lead them to hellfire. He who does not sin does not belong to this planet Earth. Political sins only last for a moment and then dissolve”, he stated.

Reassuring Tenebe, Oshiomhole declared him forgiven, adding that in politics, mistakes are temporary and reconciliation is always possible.
