Former chairman of the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) Kaduna State Caucus and proprietor of Liberty Radio, Television (TVR) and Voice of Liberty newspaper, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan, has described his decision to step away from partisan politics as the most rewarding choice of his four-decade political career.

Speaking in an interview with Liberty TVR News, Ramalan said leaving active politics marked a turning point in his life, allowing him to rediscover personal peace and professional fulfilment outside the intense arena of party competition.

Ramalan, a prominent political figure in Kaduna State, had in November 2025 formally announced his exit from active partisan engagement. In an issued statement at the time, he explained that the decision followed deep reflection and was driven by a desire to focus on his growing interests in commercial media broadcasting and strategic communications.

“I have absolutely no regrets. Stepping aside from partisan politics was the best decision I ever made. Life since then has been quiet, happy and fulfilling”, he said during the interview.

After 40 years of involvement in party structures, grassroots mobilization and high-level political consultations, Ramalan said he felt it was time to channel his experience into a different but related field. He now concentrates on commercial media broadcasting, media planning, buying strategy, content production and serving as a broadcast and political media strategy consultant.

According to him, the transition has allowed him to apply his vast political knowledge in shaping narratives, advising stakeholders and mentoring younger professionals without being directly involved in party rivalries.

Reflecting on his decades in politics, Ramalan noted that while the journey was impactful and educational, it often came with significant pressure and personal sacrifices. By stepping back, he said, he has gained clarity, improved work-life balance and the freedom to pursue projects aligned with his long-term vision.

Observers say his departure marked the end of an era within the Kaduna APC caucus, where he played a key coordinating and advisory role for years.

Despite leaving partisan politics, Ramalan emphasized that he remains committed to contributing to national development through policy communication, media strategy and civic engagement. “For me, this is not retirement,” he added. “It is simply a redirection of service”, he stated.
