Moore, who represents West Virginia’s Second District in the U.S, was among the congressional delegation that recently came to Nigeria on a fact-finding mission over the claim of Christian genocide in Nigeria had visited Benue IDP camp.

In a statement he released on Tuesday night, the US lawmaker confirmed that over 600,000 Christians were displaced in Benue alone. Moore said the victims, who were sacked from their ancestral homes following attacks by the Islamic extremists, narrated some horrible stories. According to him, the stories of the heinous attacks and killings would remain with him until death.

Reacting, Bashir, a former presidential spokesperson, accused the lawmaker of being biased.

In a post on his official X handle, Bashir questioned why the Congressman failed to visit other states to see Muslims in IDP camps in other states. He said: “The fact that there are IDP camps in Benue doesn’t mean there are none in other parts of the country”.

“Had it been he wasn’t already biased in his outlook, he would have made himself available to visit other places and see the situation for himself”, he further stated.
