…As Uba Sani bags prestigious NIPR Fellowship
Vice-President Kashim Shettima is set to commission a state-of-the-art banquet hall at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, in what is being described as a major milestone in the state’s drive to reposition itself as a hub for high-level engagements and global partnerships.

The purpose-built facility, initiated in 2024 by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, is designed to host high-profile meetings, international conferences, Northern Governors’ Forum gatherings, as well as major state functions. The project forms part of a broader infrastructure push aimed at elevating Kaduna’s status as a preferred destination for investors, development partners, and diplomatic engagements.
With its modern amenities and contemporary architectural design, the banquet hall addresses a long-standing need for a spacious, world-class venue in the region. Government officials say the facility reflects the administration’s commitment to excellence and its vision of restoring Kaduna’s historic stature as the political and intellectual heartbeat of Northern Nigeria.
Kaduna, long regarded as a city of strategic importance since colonial times, has continued to play a central role in national affairs. The new banquet hall is expected to further enhance its capacity to host global events and reinforce its reputation as a center for governance, learning, and international collaboration.
In a related development, Governor Uba Sani has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in recognition of his contributions to public service and governance.
Speaking during the investiture ceremony held at the Government House, the NIPR president, Ike Neliaku said the honour was reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service to their people and the nation. He noted that the institute exercises strict discretion in awarding its fellowship, emphasizing that recipients must embody values that enhance public trust and national development.
Neliaku commended Governor Sani’s infrastructure strides, particularly the reconstruction of the Sokoto Road leading to the Government House, which he said had not received significant attention for decades.
The NIPR President also revealed that Nigeria will host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum in Abuja, alongside the 37th African Public Relations Association conference, drawing participants from over 120 countries. As part of the recognition, Governor Sani has also been named an ‘Ambassador of the global forum’, a role expected to enhance Nigeria’s visibility in international communication and public relations circles.
Responding, Governor Sani expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as both a privilege and a call to greater responsibility.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical communication, adding that Kaduna State is ready to host the 3rd NIPR Week as part of efforts to promote dialogue, innovation, and inclusive development.
