The European Union, (EU), has reported Nigeria to the World TradeOrganisation,(WTO). The Director-General of the WTO, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, made this disclosure in Abuja yesterday, when she visited the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The complaint was about Nigerias policy on dairy products. Okonjo-Iweala said the WTO has received a letter from the EU complaining about Nigerias restrictions on milk and dairy products. She said the WTO will look into the complaint, but urged Nigerians to take advantage of the Trade Remedy Initiative in place at the WTO to protect local industries.

Okonjo-Iweala Emerges WTO DG
Former Nigerian Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been elected Director General of the World Trade Organisation WTO). In the final two-man race, Okonjo-Iweala polled 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat South Koreas Trade Minister. She becomes the first African to head the World Trade Organisation. The WTO is expected to announce Okonjo-Iweala as the new DG by 3pm Nigerian time.
