Voting was abruptly suspended by the Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the ongoing Special Convention to pick the ruling party’s presidential candidate over security concerns,

It was gathered that the move came as unauthrorised persons have reportedly found their way into the Eagle Square.
Food hawkers and persons who are not delegates or party agents were seen loitering around the convention ground, despite the tight screening that was put in place at the early stage of the convention.
The exercise was put on hold as Kano delegates were casting their ballot in the keenly contested exercise.
Less than 20 of the 127 delegates from Kano had voted before the exercise was suspended.
Some of the aspirants reportedly had more than one agent at the voting points, leading to protests. To douse tension, the Election committee ordered some persons to leave the voting area after which the exercise continued.
The voting began at past 2 am, amid tight security, and the watch of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and aspirants’ agents.
