Reports indicate that the maiden North-West Stakeholders Development Summit, (NWDC), held on January 31, 2026, at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre in Kaduna, was overshadowed by the absence of all seven state governors from the region.  According to reports, none of the governors from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, or Zamfara attended the summit in person. The Senate has cautioned nominees to the Governing Board of the North-West Development Commission (NWDC) against betraying the trust reposed in them by President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people. This warning came on Monday during the screening exercise conducted by the Senate’s Ad-Hoc Committee on Regional Development Commissions, led by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia-North).
