The National Secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), Ogini Olaposi, has declared that the influence of the party’s former presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is overrated in Kano State. Olaposi said Kwankwaso’s influence as a former governor of Kano State is long gone, stressing that he can’t affect President Bola Tinubu’s votes from the state in 2027. A major political shift has hit Kano State, as an APC woman leader, Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai and more than 100 of her supporters have defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP). The group moved from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tarai, Kibiya local government area, and pledged full support to Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf’s administration.
