Veteran politician and chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has declared that former Kano State governor and NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is the most viable political figure in the country today — describing him as “the only politician Nigeria needs and ought to follow”.

Speaking during an interview yesterday, Galadima dismissed persistent rumours linking Kwankwaso to a possible defection to another party, insisting that despite overtures from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and elements within the emerging opposition coalition, Kwankwaso remains firmly committed to the NNPP.
“We have heard several things — that Ganduje’s resignation or forced removal as APC chairman was to pave the way for Kwankwaso’s return to the ruling party. He was even pictured supposedly carrying an APC membership card. Is that true? Of course not. Nobody has put any credible evidence forward. Kwankwaso is going nowhere”, Galadima said.
He described Kwankwaso as a strategic politician whose silence has only amplified his popularity and credibility among Nigerians. “He is such a strategic politician that he has decided to keep quiet, and people are campaigning for him free of charge instead of him spending money to launder his image”, he noted.
Galadima stressed that the growing speculation around Kwankwaso’s political future reflects his unmatched relevance ahead of the 2027 elections. “These rumours only confirm that Kwankwaso is the kind of leader Nigeria needs. Everybody is saying he’s a good person, capable, competent, and has the capacity to lead. What else do you need in any politician more than that?” he asked.
Reiterating the NNPP’s resolve, Galadima said: “We will remain in our party strategically until the whistle is blown for politics. Our party is duly registered and recognised by INEC, and we are staying where we are”.
He concluded by urging Nigerians and other political stakeholders to rally behind Kwankwaso, whom he described as ideally positioned to deliver real democratic dividends and move the country forward. “Every Nigerian needs him. Every political party wants him. But we are not jumping ship. We are staying our course”, Galadima declared.
