At least 25 people are feared dead following a canoe accident along the Nguru–Guri waterway linking Jigawa and Yobe states on Saturday evening, with several others rescued and some still missing. According to reports, the incident occurred at about 7pm when a canoe conveying passengers between Adiyani village in Guri local government area of Jigawa State and Garbi village in Nguru LGA of Yobe State capsized mid-journey. At least 25 people are feared dead, after a boat carrying traders and goods capsized in Gunu village, in Shiroro local government area of Niger State on Saturday, in yet another tragic incident highlighting the dangers of inland water travel in Nigeria. At least 21 passengers are feared drowned in a boat accident that occurred on Monday at Imore town in the Amuwo-Odofin local government area of Lagos State. The Kebbi State Government has commiserated with members of immediate families, the Yauri Emirate Council, and the local government area, LGA over a boat mishap involving thirthy traders.
