Some parts of the country have been plunged into total blackout following the collapse of the nation’s power grid.
Four states in the North West zone were thrown into darkness following the collapse.
Two of the power distribution companies in the country, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (Kaduna Electric) and Eko Electricity Distribution Company, (EKEDC) announced the national grid collapse yesterday.
Kaduna Electric, in a statement issued by the company’s spokesman, AbdulAzeez Abdullahi, said the affected states – Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara, which are within its franchise, will not have electricity supply until the grid is backed up.
Similarly, theEKEDC in Lagos also confirmed the collapse of the national grid collapse on Sunday via its Twitter handle. It explained that the current power outage was due to system collapse on the national grid.
However, the power distribution companies while regretting the incident assured Nigerians that electricity supply would be restored as soon as possible, noting that they are working with TCN to restore the power supply.
