Former Nigeria”s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Professor Jibril Aminu is dead.

Professor Aminu, who died in the early hours of yesterday in Abuja, was 85 years old haven been born in August 1939, at Song, Adamawa State. He was also a Senator representing Adamawa-Central from 2003 to 2007.
An issued statement informing the Muslim Ummah of his death said Salatul Janazah (Funeral Prayer) will be held for him at National Mosque, Abuja, while his burial will later be held at Song, Adamawa State.
He is survived by two wives: Fatima Bukar Mulima and nine children.
Prof. Aminu, who was previously known as Aminu Song, was a professor of cardiology and was among the first set of medical students that graduated from the prestigious University Of Ibadan.
He was also Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003 and served as the senator representing Adamawa Central senatorial district from 2003 to 2011 in the platform of the PDP.
