Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has dismissed suggestions that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly those loyal to the Late Former President Muhammadu Buhari, now feel politically orphaned.

He spoke to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa service shortly after the Federal Executive Council Special Session led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday, described the notion as not true because the ruling party now has a great leader in the person of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking after the FEC event, he said: “That’s not true. We have a great leader, President Bola Tinubu. Even when God made Buhari president, he worked hand-in-hand with Tinubu”.
Senator Jibrin, a ranking APC lawmaker from Kano State, emphasised that the foundation and success of the APC were significantly driven by Tinubu’s political vision. “It was Bola Tinubu who came up with the idea of forming the APC, and it was fate that Buhari became president first”, he said.
He further explained that the merger that gave birth to the APC was carefully orchestrated by Tinubu, uniting four major political groups: the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and the New PDP.
“The current president was the one who arranged everything. So when people say there’s no leader, that’s just opposition talk, and it’s not true,” Barau stated.
The remarks come amid ongoing political debates about leadership and succession within the APC following Buhari’s death and exit from the political scene ahead of 2027 general elections.
