President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointments of 26 individuals to the boards and leadership of 10 federal agencies and commissions. Ayo Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, will serve as the Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced these appointments in a statement yesterday.
Fayose will lead the REA Board, with Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta joining as members and non-executive directors. The Board also includes the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, along with three other executive directors who were appointed earlier.
Additionally, President Tinubu restructured the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission by appointing Major-General Junaid Bindawa as its Chairman. Former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas will serve as Secretary of this Commission. Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, from Benue; Oladele Olatubosun, from Oyo, and Yakubu Umar Barde from Kaduna have been appointed as commissioners.
Other members of the Commission include: Dr. Mai Adamu Ya’u, from Borno; Ginika Florence Tor, from Enugu: Engineer Lawrence Okoh, from Edo, and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi.
In another update, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously named Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has now been reassigned as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The President has also approved the appointment of Dr. Abuh Mohammed as the Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission. For the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) located in Ilorin, Kwara State, Engineer Julius Oloro has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, taking over from the Late Dr. A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
Tinubu also swore-in the Board members of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, with Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Sa’idu serving as Chairman. The other members include: Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Giɗaɗo, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
In addition, Shuni Muhammad Ɗahiru was named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who moved to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
For the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director of Finance. He is taking over from Mathias Byuan, who resigned to run for governor in Benue State. Iorja is an economist and legal expert currently serving as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
According to the statement from the Presidency, all these appointments are effective immediately.
