In a recent operation carried out by the Nigerian troops of ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ in the North-East, six Boko Haram terrorists were eliminated during a raid on their camp in the outskirts of Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

The successful mission was conducted in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid forces on September 7, 2023, at Garin Ba’aba in Ba local government area.
Bama, situated approximately 70 kilometres from Maiduguri, is a crucial location within the heart of the Sambisa Forest. The operation was prompted by intelligence reports, and it saw the troops confronting Boko Haram terrorists, who initially attempted to resist.
A counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who specialises in the Lake Chad region, explained that upon entering the village of Garin Ba’aba within the Sambisa Forest, the troops encountered the terrorists’ surveillance team known as the “Murabitun”. In a swift response, four of these individuals were neutralised.
However, as the operation continued, the remaining Boko Haram militants began shouting “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar” and opened fire from their positions. A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the elimination of two more terrorists, while the rest managed to escape the scene.
Observers say this operation underscores the commitment of Nigerian troops to combatting terrorism and ensuring the security and safety of the region, particularly in areas infested with Boko Haram insurgents.
