President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday paid a solidarity visit to the Kaduna residence of Nigeria’s Late President, Muhammadu Buhari, assuring the Buhari family of upholding the Late leader’s legacies.

The President, who led a powerful delegation of Nigeria’s political elite to Kaduna where he combined high-profile social and solemn family engagements, first attended the wedding fatiha of Nasirudeen AbdulAziz Yari, son of former Zamfara governor and serving senator, AbdulAziz Yari, who married Safiyya Shehu Idris at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque.
Tinubu personally received the groom’s hand-in-marriage on behalf of the Yari family after the bride’s guardian confirmed the payment of a ₦1 million dowry.
The colourful event, which doubled as a political carnival, drew governors, ministers, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and business leaders from across the country. Traditional monarchs, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, joined the gathering, while renowned clerics prayed for the new couple, the President, and the nation. Crowds of supporters thronged the streets, chanting: “Tinubu Again”, and causing heavy traffic across Kaduna metropolis.

After the ceremony, Tinubu paid a solidarity visit to the Kaduna residence of late President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on July 13, 2025. He was received by Buhari’s widow, Aisha, and their son, Yusuf, alongside close family associates.
In an emotional interaction, President Tinubu assured the family that his administration would uphold the Late leader’s legacies of honesty, patriotism, and integrity.
“A loss in flesh is not a loss in the spirit. The spirit that he left with us is a spirit of hard work, dedication, patriotism, and honesty. We assure you and the entire family that we will continue with our leader’s legacy, the mark he made for Nigeria,” Tinubu said.

Responding, A’isha Buhari thanked Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, and other top government officials for standing by the family in their grief. She prayed for peace and unity in Nigeria and urged the President to carry on her Late husband’s ideals of honesty, tolerance, and justice.
Tinubu was accompanied to Kaduna by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, ministers, and governors including AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto).
The visit, blending family mourning with political spectacle, was widely seen as a symbolic affirmation of Tinubu’s alliance with Buhari’s legacy and a showcase of early political maneuverings ahead of the 2027 general elections.
