The Labour Party, (LP), has urged the Federal Government to immortalise the late former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mohammed Uwais, by implementing the far-reaching electoral reform recommendations he championed during his lifetime. This call was made by chairman of the LP’s National Caretaker Committee, Senator Nenadi Usman, in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday. Ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria, Uwais has died
A former Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN), Justice Mohammed Lawal Uwais, has died at the age of 89. Uwais, who served for 11 years from 1995 to 2006 as CJN, died in Abuja yesterday, according to a family source. The top Nigerian jurist, born on June 12, 1936. chaired the Electoral Reform Commission established by the Late president Umar Yar’adua which submitted recommended critical reforms in Nigeria’s electoral system in 2008.
