Many residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have decried increased transport fares, which have limited their movement around the city centre. Some of the residents who spoke to newsmen, said that one of the greatest challenges they encountered was the non-availability of fuel despite its increased cost. According to them, fuel is not readily available at many filling stations, leading to artificial scarcity and panic, thus increasing the cost of transportation. Subsidy removal pushes transport industry into recession

Nigeria’s transport and storage industry shrank for the second time in the third quarter of 2023, entering a recession for the first time in 30 months, largely on the back of petrol subsidy removal, according to a published analysis.
