Niger State Police Command has arrested 12 suspects for allegedly committing a massive theft and vandalism at the Kainji Power Plant, valued at over ₦4.8 billion. Another two suspects were arrested for allegedly staging a kidnap designed to extort ₦7 million ransom. The National Bureau of Statistics, (NBS), has reported over 25 million phone thefts between March 2023 and April 2024, according to its ‘Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey 2024’.
