The Fulani socio-cultural association, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has demanded a ministry like Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for cow milk production by Fulani herders. The group’s president, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, who made this proposal in a recent interview, insisted that the creation of a separate ministry for Fulani herders, just like Niger Delta was necessary because herders contribute to the national economy as much as the Niger Delta ministry. The Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN), has appealed to Nigerians to allow herders carry out their businesses peacefully. According to the MACBAN’s South-East zonal chairman, Gidado Siddiki, herdsmen should be allowed to carry out their businesses until a beneficial alternative is provided. The leader of Fulani herdsmen and Secretary of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, (MACBAN), in Kano State, Zubairu Ibrahim, has disclosed that herdsmen from South-West, South-East and other parts of the country have indicated interest to relocate to the Kano RUGA settlement.
