The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to urgently investigate major tech companies – including Google, Meta, Apple, Microsoft (Bing), X, TikTok, Amazon and YouTube – over allegations of algorithmic discrimination, market dominance and data exploitation in Nigeria. Microsoft sacks its Lagos office staff, as it plans exit from Nigeria
Microsoft has sacked its workers at the Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Lagos, Nigeria as it plans to exit the country. The ADC is Microsoft’s initiative in Africa for an Engineering Centre to provide local solutions with global scalability as well as provide employment opportunities and further enhance technological innovations on the continent.
