The Nigerian Army says it has suspended the immediate-past Commander 3 Brigade Kano, Brigadier-General M.A. Sadiq, who is currently undergoing military investigation into administrative discrepancies while he was Commander, 3 Brigade. According to reports, General Sadiq is accused of diverting rice palliatives meant for soldiers and selling military equipment, including generator sets and operational vehicles, to scrap yards. Insurgency: Theatre Commander hails troops’ exploits in Borno

The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force, (JTF), North-East ‘Operation Hadin Kai‘, Major-General Christopher Musa, has commended the troops’ exploits in the fight against the insurgency in the region. According  to a statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said Musa gave the commendation on Monday during an operational visit to troops of Sector 3 OPHK. Zimbabwe’s army commander died early on Thursday due to cancer, the presidential spokesman has said. The army holds an outsized influence in Zimbabwean politics. In November 2017, the army stepped in to oust the late Robert Mugabe and pave way for incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Lt.-Gen. Edzayi Chimonyo, who was appointed to the position after the coup, had been battling cancer,  presidential spokesman, George Charamba, wrote on Twitter.
