Nigeria qualifies for AFCON 2021

…Super Eagles defeat Benin Republic 1-0 in Porto Novo Nigeria has booked its place as the 17th country to qualify for the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon. The country qualified even before its players, the Super Eagles, kicked-off Saturday’s clash with Benin Republic, in the capital, Port Novo. Nigeria, the three-time continental winner in 1980, 1994 and 2014, will feature in the competition for the 19th time when the next edition kicks-off next January.  The Super Eagles finished in third place at the last edition in Egypt two years ago.

AFCON Qualifiers: 16 players participate in Super Eagles first training session, Osimhen missing

The Super Eagles on Tuesday in Benin had their first training session in the last leg of preparations for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sierra Leone. 16 of the 23 invited players took part in the training. Napoli forward Victor Osimhen was however missing from the training, even though it was earlier confirmed he had arrived at the team’s camp.
