…As thugs invade INEC office in Abia
Six persons are allegedly feared missing when gunmen attacked six Hummer Buses carrying The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC officials in Kogi State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of yesterday around 2:00am, at Abajana, left several officials with gunshot wounds including policemen and drivers.
According to reports, the six missing persons include two serving NYSC corps members and four ex-corpers. The injured persons are already on admission at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), now Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
In a related development, Political thugs have invaded the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Obingwa local government area of Abia state. The hoodlums stormed the INEC office yesterday afternoon. The commission disclosed this on its Twitter handle on Sunday.
The tweet read: “Thugs have invaded our Obingwa local government area office in Abia State. Security agencies have been alerted. The Commission is monitoring the situation and will issue a statement shortly”.

Recall that INEC suspended its Resident Electoral Commissioner REC in Abia State, Ike Uzochukwu from office for ‘endangering electoral processes. INEC has consequently directed its Administrative Secretary in the State, Clement Ohia to immediately assume the reins and ensure the smooth conduct of this Saturday’s Governorship and State Assembly election.
