Security was tightened in and around the Kofar Arewa Eid Praying ground, Daura yesterday, where President Muhammadu Buhari joined his kinsmen to offer prayers in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

The President, who was dressed in sky-blue flowing robes, arrived at the praying ground at 9.53 am, shortly after which the prayers were offered. The two-Rakat prayers were led by Imam Safiyanu Yusuf.
The Emir of Daura, Alh. Farouq Umar, in his remarks at the praying ground, urged Nigerians not to relent in their prayers for both the President and the country. The royal father, who spoke in Hausa, said the President had done his best for the country, insisting that Daura and Nigeria as a country had benefited a lot from his government.
A symbolic slaughtering of ram was also performed at the praying ground shortly after the prayers.
Aside from two Armoured Personnel Carriers stationed at both sides of the praying ground, a combination of all security agencies, including armed and plain-clothed, were on red-alert at the premises. Security agents also frisked all those who wanted to enter the praying ground for prayers. A security team made up of regular Police and troops also maintained security within Daura town.
The State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, and the Emir of Katsina, AbdulMumin Usman, also joined other Muslims in Katsina in celebrating the Sallah.
