…’JUSUN, Parliamentary workers’ll soon call-off theirs”, Ngige assures
The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), has suspended its warning strike in Kaduna following the Federal Government’s intervention.

The NLC National President, Ayuba Wabba, announced the suspension of the mass action, which brought Kaduna State to a standstill for three days, yesterday. According to him, the labour union decided to suspend the strike to honour the invitation of the Federal Government.
The Federal Government had pledged to mediate in the raging dispute between labour and the Kaduna State government over the mass sack of civil servants.

Recall that the union had declared a five-day warning strike which shut down the State over mass retrenchment of workers by Governor Nasir el-Rufa’i. On Tuesday, el-Rufa’i had declared Wabba as ‘wanted’, only for the labour leader to surface hours later leading an army of protesters towards the Kaduna Government House.
The meeting between labour, representatives of the Kaduna State government and the Federal Government will be held today, Thursday.
In a related development, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has assured Nigerians that the ongoing strike by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), and the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, (PASAN), will soon be called off.
According to a statement issued by the spokesperson of the ministry, Charles Akpan, Ngige said the federal government is confident that the conciliation meeting, which will also begin today, will yield fruitful results.

Recall that JUSUN had, on April 6, embarked on a nationwide strike in protest of the non-implementation of financial autonomy for the judiciary. There is also an ongoing strike by parliamentary workers who are seeking financial autonomy for State legislatures.
