About 17 lawmakers of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 10th House of Representatives have defected to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

The development was announced yesterday by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary.
The Speaker also disclosed that Leke Abejide has defected from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawmakers who moved to the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande and Munachim Umezuruike. Others are: Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene and Abdulhakeem Ado.
The wave of defections comes barely a day after former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, also left the ADC for the NDC.
Both politicians have pledged to continue their push for a better Nigeria under the NDC platform.
