A day after the Kano State Government organised a world press conference and welcomed the outcomes of the Court of Appeal judgment over the State Emirates tussle, which overturned a Kano Federal High Court ruling, the respondent in the case, Sarkin Dawaki Babba, Aminu Babba Ɗan’agundi, clarified that the State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isah Dedera, who spoke on behalf of the Kano State government, misunderstood the clear judgment and misled the general public on the matter.

Ɗan’agundi, who had filed a suit to challenge the reinstatement of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano, who stated this at the Nasarawa mini-palace yesterday, was reacting to the judgment of a three-member panel of justices while briefing newsmen on Friday.
According to him, “It is unfortunate to hear that the Commissioner of Justice, who is anticipated to be a person that understands legal jurisprudence, has misled people.
“I have to let the general public know that the Court of Appeal judgment means that the Federal High Court sitting in Kano does not have the right to entertain a case relating to Kano Emirates affairs. Our suit claims that the law constituting the dethronement of the 15 emirates is illegal and infringes on our fundamental human right.
However, court cases would never be validated until after the Supreme Court judgment, which we have already filed our cases for. Let me tell you something; we are going to continue following the case to the end of this government”.
“I would also like to stress that the issue of Emir Aminu Ado vacating the mini-palace is impossible, because the court ordered that Aminu should remain in the Nasarawa palace until the final judgment from the Supreme Court”, he stated.
He further alleged that: The Kano State government’s actions have been taken without mentioning a single problem it accused Emir Aminu of; and no query has been raised. As such, we will never allow such injustice to happen”.
“I spent 17 years in court with the Late Emir Ado Bayero, and I won. If I am to spend 20 years on this, so be it. Governors will come and go, we will be on it until we take it to the finish line. Nobody, no governor can impose the Emir on us. I am not scared of any human being born of a woman on this issue. I can go to any extent”.
