Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has criticised the United States, alleging that foreign powers often use peace negotiations as a cover for covert military plans.

In a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Gumi warned that offers of dialogue can conceal hidden agendas, claiming that some governments engage in talks while preparing lethal actions against their adversaries once they are “off guard”.
According to him, “They engage you with peace talks while they are actually planning to assassinate you”. His remarks come amid heightened tensions following Iran’s confirmation of the killing of Ali Khamenei in a joint U.S.–Israeli military operation. The development has sparked retaliatory missile exchanges and deepened fears of wider regional instability.
Gumi described such diplomatic strategies as treacherous, arguing that negotiations are sometimes used to lull opponents into a false sense of security before unexpected attacks are launched.
The cleric’s comments add to a growing wave of international reactions that frame the conflict in moral and ideological terms.
