In a surprising political twist ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council polls, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship aspirant for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has stepped down in favour of Joshua Ishaku Musa, of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement came on Wednesday in a video shared on X, where Adamu was seen alongside FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, chanting: “PDAPC”, to signal his new support.
Adamu said the decision followed “deep consultation” with Wike, and stressed their close relationship, saying: “I and Joshua, we are brothers; it would not be nice for two brothers to kill themselves over one reason. I have relinquished my support to Honorable Joshua”.
He encouraged his supporters to back Musa as Bwari Area Council chairman.

Minister Wike had earlier stated his commitment to supporting candidates aligned with President Bola Tinubu. Speaking last Saturday, he emphasised that party affiliation would not determine his backing in the elections, adding: “We have the FCT area council election coming up on February 21, and I have a duty to support any candidate that supports President Tinubu to win…any candidate not supporting Tinubu does not stand a chance”.
Close observers say this unexpected PDP-to-APC shift is set to reshape the dynamics of the upcoming Bwari Area Council polls.
