…Insists it followed due process in Sanusi’s reinstatement
The Kano State Government has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the on-going tussle over the throne of the Emir of Kano.
The State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, made the call during a press conference at the Government House, yesterday.
According to him, Tinubus intervention would save the state from descending into chaos. Gwarzo said the State is renowned for its peace and stability, in spite of its political complexities.
The Deputy Governor urged the president to take necessary steps to prevent the situation from escalating. He explained that the State government followed due process in the reinstatement of Emir Lamido Sanusi.
The Government acknowledged the recent amendments to the Kano State Emirates Law and the on-going legal challenges. Gwarzo clarified that the State government was not served with any court order regarding the matter.
The Deputy Governor said his appeal was meant to ensure peaceful resolution to the controversy and maintain the stability in the State.
He also apologised to the National Security Adviser, (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu over allegation of his involvement in the return of Emir Ado Bayero to Kano.
Recall that Gwarzo had alleged that Ribadu said: The former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is not happy with the peace and understanding being enjoyed in Kano, and is using the Office of the NSA to deploy security personnel to subvert the will of Kano people and to bring something the people dont like. The NSA has provided two planes to bring the former Emir to Kano. What we failed to understand is the reason behind his action. The intent is to kill and destroy properties, because they are not from Kano.
Reacting to the allegation, Riba?u, through his lawyers: Aliyu & Musa Chambers, denied the allegation and demanded an apology from the deputy governor.
Reacting to Riba?us letter, Gwarzo in an issued statement yesterday, apologised and retracted his allegations against Riba?u, noting that NSA Adviser had no hand in the return of Emir Bayero.
