The Nigerian military, Tuesday, moved in swamp buggies to the besieged Okuama community in Ughelli-South local government area of Delta State, in continuation of the on-going razing of the community.
The two swamp buggies, which were off-loaded from trailer-trucks into barges at the Bomadi Police Division waterfront, were transported onward into the creeks.
Recall that, last week, soldiers on a rescue mission were ambushed and killed by youths of Okuama community, leading to a reprisal attack and consequent burning of houses by the military.
A source, who spoke from a neighbouring community of Okuama, disclosed that the heavy vehicles were seen transported on barges through their community waterways towards the direction of Okuama.
However, the chairman Akugbene community in Bomadi local government area of Delta State, have been released from detention by men of the military Joint Task Force, JTF, Bomadi Division. It was gathered that, the community chairman and others, who were detained, yesterday, over the harbouring of the fleeing chairman of Okuama and other suspects, secured their release after producing the alleged perpetrators under the community’s custody.
