…Zazzau Emirate also cancels Sallah procession
In compliance with the Federal Government’s placing of six States on red alert, the Kano State government has suspended all Eid el-Kabir (Sallah) festivities.

This was announced by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba.
He said the development was part of a measure adopted by Nigeria, like most parts of the African continent now facing a Covid-19 third wave, after detecting the more transmissible Delta variant.
According to him, Eid prayers would be held in all the five Emirates and mosques across the State.
Garba said the red alert allows authorities in the affected States to restrict celebrations and gatherings to a minimum, particularly the traditional Durbar (Hawan Sallah), which is marked by colourful horse riding events watched by large gatherings.

Similarly, the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamalli, has announced the cancellation of the Eid-el-Kabir procession in Zaria, Kaduna State, in compliance with Covid-19 prevention protocols.
The royal father made the announcement while briefing newsmen at his palace in Zaria yesterday.
According to the Emir, the council has adopted the measures due to the resurgence of third-wave Covid-19 as many emirate councils in the country had similarly cancelled the procession, saying the cancellation was done in an effort to preserve the health of the people.
Recall that the Federal Government had put six States and FCT on red alert, to ensure a safe and healthy nationwide Eid-el-Kabir celebration following the confirmation of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in the country. The six States are Lagos, Oyo, Rivers, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau and the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).
