The Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU), Zaria’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), has recommended the withdrawal of the academic certificate issued to Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai, for alleged violations of the requirements in character and learning deemed worthy of an ABU degree award.

The recommendation was made as part of resolutions adopted by the union after its congress on Wednesday.
The union, in an issued statement signed by the union branch Chairman, Harun Jibril, and Secretary, Hussein Abdullahi, lamented what it describes as el- Rufai’s attempt to illegally and forcibly take over lands belonging to the institution despite a court order prohibiting him from doing so.
“The ASUU-ABU branch, at its congress meeting of 2nd March, 2022, deliberated on the matter of the attempt by Nasiru el-Rufa’i, the executive Governor of Kaduna State to illegally and forcefully and in utter disregard of an order by a competent court of law, take over lands belonging to the Ahmadu Bello University, an institution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a historic and premier university.
“The Congress thus resolved to visit the Mando College of Agriculture and Animal Science, where the lands are to register its protest over the illegal land seizure.
“Issue advice to the relevant organs of Ahmadu Bello University to formally withdraw the degree certificates awarded to Nasiru el-Rufa’i by the University, as his many actions are in contravention of the requirements in character and learning deemed worthy of ABU degree award”, the statement read.
