Six days after quitting the APC, former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Age has joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and declared he will run for Delta-Central in 2027.

In a statement yesterday, Omo-Age said the move followed weeks of consultations with supporters and stakeholders across Delta State. He said the feedback was clear: Deltans want leaders who listen, act with integrity, and deliver results they can see.

He said he will run on the NDC platform alongside the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. Omo-Age praised NDC leaders including Senator Seriake Dickson, National Chairman Senator Moses Cleopas, Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso for building what he called a credible, people-first alternative.

“This is not about me; this is about the mandate you gave me in 2019 and the renewed call from our people for me to return to the Senate and provide effective representation”, he stated.

Omo-Age accused successive governments of failing Delta despite billions in federal allocations. He said too many roads are impassable, health centers lack drugs, schools are overcrowded, and young graduates remain jobless while money sits idle in CBN accounts.

He pledged to push for fair allocation of federal projects to Delta Central, demand accountability for state funds, and advocate for jobs, SMEs, agriculture, healthcare and education if elected. He also said the NDC will field credible candidates for governor and other offices. “The work starts now. The time is now. The people are ready”, he said.

Omo-Age said he built the APC structure in Delta when many said it was impossible, and vowed to do the same for the NDC from ward level upward ahead of 2027.
