The Director-General of The Buhari Organisation (TBO), Sule Hamma, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu has the potential to consolidate the political stronghold of the Late President Muhammadu Buhari in Nigeria’s northern region, which delivered over 12.7 million votes during his electoral victories.

Speaking in an interview with a television programme on Tuesday, Hamma noted that Tinubu’s style of leadership and inclusive policies could help the President retain and even expand the support base that propelled Buhari to power.
“If Bola Tinubu continues on this line of pursuing a social and political agenda that incorporates people at the grassroots and creates a mass base of loyal supporters, no doubt it will be possible to pick up those 12.7 million votes”, he stated.
Hamma stressed that Buhari’s political influence in the North was built on trust, personal integrity, and a consistent connection with the common people. He advised Tinubu to build on these foundations by addressing key issues that matter most to northern communities, such as poverty alleviation, security, and youth employment.
He added that the President’s recent policy directions, including social investment programmes and outreach to traditional and religious leaders, are steps in the right direction.
“If he sustains this momentum, especially in bridging gaps and tackling insecurity in the North, the people will naturally rally behind him. The North has always appreciated leaders who listen and deliver”, Hamma noted.
He, however, warned that Tinubu must remain cautious of political missteps that could alienate the region’s voting bloc. He urged the ruling All-Progressives Congress (APC) to unite its various factions and strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of future elections.
President Tinubu, who succeeded Buhari in 2023, has repeatedly promised to uphold the legacy of his predecessor while pursuing his ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, aimed at economic revival and national cohesion.
