The All Progressives Congress, (APC), has said that no amount of ethnic politics or opposition alliance can stop President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, even as the ruling party prepares to receive a fresh wave of defectors from opposition parties.

The party’s Lagos State spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, stated this in a statement yesterday, while reacting to comments by former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, who urged opposition groups to unite and play the ethnic card to unseat Tinubu.
Oladejo described Momodu’s remarks as an admission that Tinubu remains politically unstoppable, adding that Nigerians have moved beyond ethnic sentiments in choosing their leaders.
He said: “The days of weaponising ethnicity as a shortcut to power are long gone. The Nigerian electorate has evolved. They now focus on who can deliver results, not who can divide the nation”.
He maintained that under Tinubu, Nigeria is being rebuilt on the foundation of equity, inclusion, and reform, cutting across infrastructure, economic stabilisation, and social investment. Oladejo also urged Momodu to “find his political direction before attempting to advise others”.
Meanwhile, the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yiltwatda, has assured that all defectors joining the party will enjoy equal rights and privileges as existing members.
Speaking at an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, Plateau State, on Friday, Yiltwatda disclosed that several prominent members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including serving and former governors and legislators, are expected to join the APC next week.
“By next week, we’ll be receiving notable figures from the ADC. It’s not just PDP members; many from other parties have also shown interest”, he stated.
Yiltwatda commended President Tinubu for his inclusive leadership style, noting that the president has given minorities, especially in Plateau State, a stronger voice in national politics. “Mr. President has proved to be a friend of the minority. He has shown fairness and given us a sense of belonging. We have every reason to support him and ensure his re-election in 2027”, the APC chairman stated.
Both party leaders reaffirmed the APC’s confidence in Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the President’s performance and inclusive governance will continue to attract broad national support ahead of 2027.
