For the second time in four days – and this new year – the national power grid has crashed. The power generation dropped to just 39 megawatts (MW) at 11a.m. yesterday, down from 3,825 MW an hour earlier. Recall that last Friday, power generation fell to zero megawatts on the grid, according to the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), cutting-off supply to all 11 distribution companies (DisCos) by 1 p.m that day. There was apprehension yesterday, as President Bola Tinubu briefly stumbled during an official welcome ceremony in Ankara, Turkey.
