Says region at bottom line in politics
The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that the South-East region has lost across major political fronts, stressing that the only hope for the realisation of its aspiration is with his party.

The former governor of Kano State made this disclosure on Saturday in Gombe State, after inaugurating the State secretariat of the NNPP.
Kwankwaso explained that the region has not been strategic in its plans, noting that they are at the lowest ebb politically. He also explained why he cant accept to be running mate to any presidential candidate including Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
The former Minister of Defence confirmed that his party had been in talks with the Labour Party for a possible merger, but the main issue that hindered progress was the issue of who becomes the presidential candidate. He stated that the zone had lost out on the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but had a chance with the NNPP.

He pointed out the political challenges bedevilling the South-East, adding that they should be tackled politically. Kwankwaso said the best option for the South-East was for the zone to partner with NNPP, this is a golden opportunity, if they lose it, it will be a disaster. On the chances of NNPP in the forthcoming 2023 elections, Kwankwaso said his Party had the structure, organisation and population across the country to contest and win elections.
He said if elected president in 2023, his vision would be to create opportunities for the youth of Nigeria to get employed, achieve their dreams and be empowered educationally and economically.
