Terrorists in Zamfara State have demanded N50 million as ransom for the release of a retired colonel, Rabiu Yandoto and his two children, who are still in captivity.

Speaking to newsmen, one of Yandoto’s relations who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the terrorists called him and demanded N50million ransom.
The suspected terrorists kidnapped the retired colonel and his two children along Gusau-Tsafe road, last week. The retired army personnel was reportedly going back to his hometown together with his children when they were ambushed by the terrorists and taken to the forest.
The ransom money, according to the report, was however reduced to N5million, following a series of negotiations between the bandits and the family.
When contacted, the State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, said he was not aware of the money demanded by the terrorists. He however stated that the State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Kolo Yusuf, is making frantic efforts to rescue Col. Yandoto and his children.
