Following the reaction of immediate-past Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, that the vehicles impounded by the security agents in his residences were his personal properties, the State Police Command has urged him to produce evidence and reclaim the vehicles belonging to him.

Recall that there were earlier reports that Matawalle claimed that the majority of the vehicles taken away by the security agencies from his two houses in Gusau and Maradun last Friday were procured by him before he became a Governor.
However, in a press statement, the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Yazid Abubakar, said those who felt that their vehicles were wrongfully impounded were advised to produce proof of ownership to claim such vehicles.
Abubakar said, “Persons who feel their vehicles were wrongfully taken while executing search warrants during the course of this investigation are advised to produce proof of ownership to claim such vehicles”.
Abubakar maintained that investigations into the issue of the missing vehicles were still ongoing. He called on the general public who have useful information about the missing vehicles to come forward to assist the security agents.

Matawalle, who spoke to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa service in an interview at the weekend, had accused the security agents of looting the personal belongings of his wives and children, including clothing materials.
