Eyewitnesses and local security sources confirmed that the gunmen mounted a roadblock early this morning, halting vehicles traveling along the critical Gusau–Shinkafi route. In the confusion and panic, seven separate vehicles were intercepted, and passengers were forcefully taken into the forest at gunpoint.

Victims include men, women, and possibly children, though full details remain unclear due to the ongoing security operation.

Military and police forces have reportedly mobilized in response to the attack, but rescue operations have so far been unsuccessful. Residents are urging the government to deploy more troops to secure the volatile region and prevent further attacks.

This shocking incident adds to the escalating wave of insecurity plaguing Zamfara State, where rural communities and travelers are frequently at the mercy of roaming criminal gangs.

The latest abduction has sparked outrage on social media, with Nigerians calling for immediate action from both the federal and state governments. Civil society groups have renewed their demand for a state of emergency in Zamfara, as residents now live in constant fear of being kidnapped or killed.
